We take

A preschool for children and a professional learning space for adults, united by a shared understanding of how we learn:

Borboleta

very seriously.

through play.

play

Two projects. One way of seeing childhood.

Escuela de Juego

Training and support for teachers, professionals and schools that want to learn how to observe play and bring that perspective into their practice.

Borboleta Kinder

A space designed for children to play freely within a clear daily rhythm, with teachers who observe closely and know when to step in.

One part happens every day with children. The other takes shape when we reflect on that experience with other adults and put it into words.

What do we see when we watch a child play?

Sometimes, all it takes is slowing down a little to notice how much is happening within an ordinary moment.

Transporting

Pretend play

Building
He moves back and forth with a full wheelbarrow.
He puts a structure together and tests what makes it stand.
A container, a little dirt and an idea.

He loads it, pushes, adjusts his direction and starts again. It’s not just about moving stones: there’s effort, coordination, and an idea he’s trying to carry through.

He moves one piece, changes another, watches what happens and keeps going. The goal isn’t to make “something pretty,” but to discover what happens when the base changes or a piece no longer fits the same way.

A recipe appears, then a kitchen, then a story. Language and imagination become part of the play, along with the ability to turn something simple into something else. Suddenly, they’re no longer just loose objects.

Look closer: what is he trying to accomplish through all that movement?
Look closer: is he building a tower, or exploring what makes it stay up?
Look closer: what kind of world is he creating as he plays?

Watching play changes what we do next.

From practice to training

What we learn from working with children shapes the way we train adults.

Borboleta Kinder is one of the places where this perspective is put into practice every day. It’s where we observe what sparks interest, when stepping in helps, and when it’s better to step back.

Many of the questions we bring into our trainings come from those real moments. And working with other educators sends us back to the Kinder with new questions of our own.

The people behind Borboleta

Borboleta wasn’t born at a desk. It grew out of daily practice: being with children, observing, trying things, making adjustments and continuing to ask questions. Each of us brings something different, but we’re moving in the same direction.

She is deeply involved in the day-to-day life of the Kinder. She knows the children, the families and the team from the inside, so many decisions come directly from what is actually happening: what the group needs, what is working and what needs adjusting.

Iñigo

Mica

He is a psychologist and neuroeducator, and a father of two. His perspective helps us better understand how children learn, what their play is showing us and how we can support them more intentionally.

She is an educator, a mother of two and closely involved in our training work. She helps turn what happens in practice into conversations, support and practical tools for other educators.

We don’t all do the same thing, and that’s exactly what makes Borboleta richer.

“Children are free to run, jump, climb, explore and have fun—and without even realizing it, they learn so much.”
